Donut balls

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp instant yeast
½ tsp salt
¾ cup warm milk
1 tbsp oil
1 egg
Oil (for deep frying)

Steps:
Make the dough:

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
  • Add warm milk, egg and oil.
  • Mix to form a soft dough.
    Knead:
  • Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.(If sticky, add a little flour—but don’t overdo it).
    Let it rise:
  • Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
    Shape:
  • Punch down the dough and roll small balls (bite-sized).
    Second rise:
  • Place on a floured surface, cover and let them rest for 15–20 minutes.
    Fry:
  • Heat oil on medium heat.
  • Fry the balls until golden brown, turning occasionally.
    Drain:
  • Remove and place on paper towels.
    Coating:
  • Dust the donuts with icing sugar to coat.
  • Enjoy warm with tea or coffee.
